Lil' Terror

Bah and Tim ofter talk about how at their house 2 year old calla is "the general." At my house here in Arequipa we have Santiago the almost-4 year-old anarchist.
A story:
I'm in the computer room working on a paper and listening to music when Santi walks in. He's very articulate and asks about what i'm doing and then declares that he doesn't like the music and is going to put on his own. "ok" i say as he goes over to the cabinet where his dad keeps the cd's and cassettes. Just our luck that the cassette collection is at 3 year old height, as is the cassette player.

With determination he loads one of the tapes that he has chosen into the player. The same speakers that run to the tape player also go to the computer so i'm hoping that i can let him press play but keeping piping in music from the computer.

No such luck. Santi realizes whats going on and pushes the function button so that the room is filled with 80's love ballads. About a minute passes before he very clearly asks if i like it, declares that he doesn't like it, and suggests that he try a different tape.

This goes on for a while until he takes a tape out and like any curious little kid starts pulling on the tape. I promptly take it away from him and explain that he'll ruin it and if he wants to use the tapes he has to take care of it.

The words are barely out of my mouth and i can see the storm coming. A tear at the corner of the eye. then the squenched up nose. he starts exaggerating his breathing. i've seen this one before... and there it is, his trademark SCREAM!!!!!!!!

Sorry pal, scream all you want, i'm not crackin. So you're trying punches now huh? nope, not yielding to that either. Soon dad arrives and backs me up. this provokes the little man and he escaltates his auditory assault.

NADIE ME QUIERE (NOBODY LOVES ME)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! fills the house.

Sorry kiddo, not buying the act.

Twenty minutes later and he's back, wanting to hug and tickle. Soon his parents take them to the little park outside. Plenty of love to go around. Till next time Lil' Mr. Hyde.

It is great all the places you are experiencing different emotions and personalities in Peru!
I am so glad you are open to all.
Children of all ages need so much affirmation! Remember plenty of hugs just for being!

Here's a virtual one from me to you!
With lots of love
